Having arrived on vacation in the UAE at the end of February 2023, I decided to rent a car and travel around the neighboring emirates and Dubai itself. Before that I read the forums on how and through what company to rent a car (the difficulty was mainly in the absence of a credit card working in the UAE to make a deposit and the search for companies working with Russian cards). I had a choice between two car rental companies but after comparing prices I settled on LocalCarHires.com. I booked a car with the delivery to the hotel the next day, receiving and returning the car after 1.5 weeks passed without any problems (upon receipt and delivery, I and a representative of the local rental company, each on his phone took the car inside and outside checked the mileage and the amount of gasoline and I paid the passage of the UAE toll roads in the end). But since I didn't have a valid credit card, I paid the deposit in cash in the amount of 1500 dirhams. The local rental company had promised a refund in 3 weeks to my bank account or via money transfer. When I returned home and waited for my deposit to be refunded, I wrote to the local rental company representative about the deadline to send me my deposit. I gave them my bank account number (Raiffeisenbank accepts SWIFT transfers from UAE) and the second way through a money transfer system CONTACT (there are also points of acceptance in the UAE). But then the local company in the chat messaging on messaging that send via SWIFT to Russia will not work, and the system KONTAKT they do not know and can only offer Western Union (which does not accept remittances to Russia). In my correspondence with them passed 10 days and finally my annual question "When will I get my deposit refund?" and the answer of the local rental company "We are dealing with this problem. The dialogue for a refund came to a standstill. So I decided to seek help from LocalCarHires.com, the company through which I had booked my car from a local. After my explanation of the problem with the refund of the deposit, the support service contacted the local rental company and within three days, the local company returned the deposit to me (via money transfer system CONTACT, there are many money transfer offices in the UAE, including the popular Al Ansari Exchange network available in almost all malls). In my situation, the fact that I booked a car through a major rental company did not allow the locals to wash out my deposit.

I’d say the experience was a bit painful as they’ve provided the other car instead and we’re waiting for it for more than 2 hours. But we understood that that was due to the driver got collision on the way to the meeting point, hence, they had to assign another car. Also, the documents were provided at time of the car return, which was a reason we’ve been a bit nervous during the day if we’re protected at all and the rent agencies services are legal. Finally, we’ve been told that the deposit will be returned in 21 working days which is kind of non sense for us - from our experience it come back in 14 calendar days as a maximum.

The car was brought to the address, for this they took an additional 100 aedes, which was not warned anywhere, just in fact after paying the rent the agent said that you still need to pay extra. The reservation was for a day from 14 to 14, in the evening of the same day I wrote to the agent with the name Akil in watsapp that I want to extend for 2 more days, I asked the cost of renting each day, he wrote 11 aedes, I asked for an invoice for payment, it was at 22 pm on the day of renting, that is, it was still 16 hours before the end of the paid day. The bill was not sent to me. I planned a trip for the next day. The car was filled with gasoline on half a tank. But I decided to fill it up, it came out to 78 aedes. Only at 15 o'clock the next day another agent writes me that I have to pay, the sum for 2 days - 288 aedes. This pissed me off, as I read this message by accident, my phone caught wifi in the shopping center. Why wasn't the payment issue resolved in the morning when there was still internet in the hotel? I texted that I would return the car but in 2-3 hours. In the end around 17 hours wrote Akil that they can take the car. But it was standing until the next day, several people from different numbers in sucksap demanded to pay those unfortunate 144 aedes. But I used the car +3 hours to the paid hours and paid for gasoline for 78 aedes (by the way in rubles it turned out to be 70 rubles per liter, we were so surprised, all say about cheap gasoline in the UAE, but it was more expensive than in Russia). As a result, the car was taken away at 15 o'clock the next day. I left the UAE. And after almost a month this Akil writes to me again on WhatsApp that they will demand payment for + 1 day 144 dirhams through the court. I would have paid immediately an additional 288 aedes, but not stated +100 aedes when renting, and the fact that the bill for renewal did not send in advance very much pissed off. Different agents write from different numbers in watsapp, each other do not pass information. The number of the office is not, because when signing the documents did not leave me any contract. Only slips from the payment terminal. I highly do not recommend renting from Akil. He also sent voice messages instead of text - well class, it is a tourist a priori without internet.

No complaints about the website and booking, everything is convenient and understandable! It took us a long time to find a car at the airport and we had to pay for parking at the airport (we were asked to meet him at the airport exit with a sign)! I rented Nissan Sanni for 6 days in Sharjah, from 07.11.2023 to 13.11.2023 I paid about 3000 rubles deposit while I was in Russia, using a bank card of payment system Mir. I rented a Suzuki from February 22 to 25 of this year but received a Nissan instead an hour late from the appointed time. The car was in terrible condition, due to lack of time to wait for another car, I was forced to pick this one up and the first thing I did was go to the car wash. The fuel level was slightly higher than the empty tank, but I returned it with the same level. The driver who brought the car was very friendly. The manager with whom I contacted via WhatsApp kindly prepared all the documents in advance and receiving the car at the airport terminal took only a few minutes. After returning the car to the same place, I was told that after 14 days I could receive the cash deposit back. After two weeks, I contacted the manager about payment but could not get an answer for 4 days. in the end, after four days of silence, they told me that they meant 14 working days and that the period expires this week, and the money will be transferred to me on Monday of the next week, that is, March 18th.
